For several years the fire fighters in Silvis, Ill., tried unsuccessfully to find funding for a Special Applications Vehicle (SAV) to fight grass fires and other community emergencies. New York's MTA To Repair Train Tunnel Hit by Hurricane Sandy

In August, New York's Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) will begin rehabilitation work on the Rutgers Tube New York City Transit subway tunnel that allows the F Line to run under the East River between Brooklyn and Manhattan.
